Born and raised in the coastal village of Ferraguda, Portugal, Miguel grew up surrounded by the rhythms of food and community. With a butcher for a father and a fishmonger for a mother - who still runs her fish shop in Albufeira - his love for food runs deep. From an early age, he learned that the best meals are about more than what’s on the plate - they’re about connection.
At Embers, Miguel brings that same spirit to every interaction. He’s passionate about sharing the stories behind the wines, cheeses, and charcuterie from around the world that make up the heart of the Embers menu. Whether its recommending the perfect pairing or simply checking in on returning guests, Miguel love turning a visit into an experience - and strangers into familiar faces.

Born in Hamburg, Germany, Alex brings with him a realm of worldly talent and fresh creativity that never fails to impress. With over two decades of experience in the culinary world, Alex has been honing his skills in the kitchen since 1998. One of his most notable achievements was his role at the esteemed Glowbal Group Italian Kitchen in Vancouver, where his culinary prowess shone brightly.
Now, as a valued member of our company, Alex is infusing our menus with a delightful German touch, adding a unique twist to our delectable offerings. You might not spot him in the kitchen, but Chef Alex is the creative force behind so many of the flavours you know and love. From our freshly baked bread to our house-made dips, spiced nuts, and weekly features - his passion and precision shape every bite. His talent, dedication, and deep understanding of flavour elevate everything we do. He’s not just our chef - he’s an essential part of who we are as a team.
